Check a livestream recording before you make clips
Identify gaps, frozen pictures, audio drift, and incomplete recordings without confusing them with player buffering.
Confirm what period was captured
A recording can only contain the part of a broadcast captured by the recorder. Adding a creator after a LIVE starts does not reconstruct its earlier minutes. Note when recording began and when the broadcast ended if completeness matters to your project.
Long duration does not prove completeness. Reconnects, missing segments, or broken timestamps can produce a misleading timeline. Compare the displayed duration with the broadcast window you expected, allowing for partial capture and legitimate pauses in the broadcast.
Check five positions
Play the start, roughly one-quarter, the middle, three-quarters, and the end. At each position, watch for movement and listen for continuous sound. Seek across interruptions. If the picture stops while speech continues, record the exact timestamp and whether it happens again after a reload.
If permitted, compare a downloaded copy in another player. A failure at the same moment in both is more consistent with a recording problem than ordinary network buffering. If only the web player stalls, note your browser and device. This narrows the problem; it does not prove the upstream broadcast was fault-free.
Keep an issue log an editor can use
A useful report is specific: 00:17:42 to 00:18:10, picture frozen, audio continues; 00:32:05, black frame; 00:44:00, normal again. Include the recording URL. Distinguish silence from missing audio, and a still camera scene from a repeated frame, whenever the content makes that possible.
Do not repeatedly re-encode a faulty copy hoping to recover missing pictures. Re-encoding may repair some compatibility problems, but cannot recreate video that was never captured. Keep the untouched recording so repair attempts do not destroy the best remaining source.
Choose and verify a clip
Select a moment that includes the setup and response, not just the most dramatic frame. Preview the entire interval with audio before saving. After export, check the first and last second. Trim controls describe the requested interval; the final file establishes the result.
Permaloop livestream clips are private saves. That does not give permission to republish somebody else's broadcast elsewhere. Keep consent and context in mind. Download authorized material before the deletion deadline shown on its recording page if you need a separate copy; do not assume all recordings have unlimited retention.
